715,000 Millionaires in UK - are you one of them?

There's been a 40% increase in millionaires since 2010, so now one in 65 are a millionaire.

As far as I can tell from the article the definition of millionaire is by household and includes property I.e. The house you live in.

Well if that's the case my wife and I are now millionaires.

So how many of the remaining 713,999 are on this forum?

Cheers fj

Are you double counting shared assets, or do you mean that you have >£2m between the two of you? To which article do you refer?

It would be useful if you posted the precise definition.

If you have FS pensions (and State Pension) do you multiply the annual pension by (say) 30 to attribute a capital value to it?

Not really surprising if you count house values of older people (particularly down south) without mortgages, pension values, and years of isa investment growth. A millionaire in liquid cash is something else entirely.

Well it's been in the times and guardian today and I'm guessing that household means what it says, ie the entire household or homeowners.

Judging from some of the usual posters on this forum I wouldn't be surprised if there were quite a few millionaires

No I am not a millionaire as we do not live in the London area where I guess a lot of people have a million or almost that in property.

If you are talking household though OH and I might be close to it as he has a good pension but not sure how to value that as it is 75% final salary and 25% defined contribution. Most of my money is in property as OH and I jointly own our home with no mortgage now (£275000) and I own a share of another mortgage free property (my share is around £100,000). I have around £110000 in cash and stocks and shares and a final salary pension but again not sure how to value that.
