Stanmore Underground NCP parking fine

So I was running late for work this morning, got to the car park, went to pay for my ticket via card as i normally do but the card machine was out of order. Anyway, I parked up and thought i will just ring up and pay over the phone.. Of course, I forgot!!!

As you can imagine i got back to the station after work to see a parking fine on my windscreen.

So yes I did forget to pay for a ticket so I guess have broken their t&c's, but my question is as this is a private car parking company and the ticket itself has no reference to being issued on behalf of the london underground or mention any bylaws do i actually have to pay it?

Is it fine or an invoice?

If they start sending me letters and I keep ignoring them will they eventually give up?
