Churchill Car Insurance & Reviews

Hello All,

I don't know where to start from. I wish I would have seen online reviews before for Churchill car insurance. I can't paste the links to review here , as I am not allowed.

And I really respect Reviewcentre for not being bias and leaving the true reviews as it is on their site rather than other sites who shows the best reviews only.

We have a comprehensive Car insurance with Churchill, and our car had an accident and was written off by them.

We negotiated for days with their engineers they were offering us bottom book price for the car. At the end I did my own market reserach and forwarded them the links , but they didn't even look at the links and sticked to their own valuation . The engineer said that's his last decision and sent us the final response letter today , we will receive it tomorrow, and is referring us to Financial Ombudsman.

What will happen now , do we have to convince them that the value of the car is worth more than what they were offering and how long would it take, anyone gone through this before ?

Will never recommend from my experience Churchill to anyone till my whole life.

You cannot continue your "battle" with Churchill now they say they are giving you their final response.

Once you get their final response you can escalate to the FOS.

Put your same argument to the FOS that has been rejected by Churchill. (Asking prices aren't market value)

Expect this to take months to resolve rather than weeks

Your Insurers and the Ombudsman will rely on the information in this link to value your car.

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/motor-valuation.html

    Note

Section 2 which explains how the Insurer should arrive at the valuation.

Pay particular attention to these two paragraphs

"We do not usually find advertisements for similar vehicles very persuasive. A vehicle may often be sold for less than the advertised price – and differences in mileage, year of registration, model type etc can significantly affect the value."

eg adverts are regarded as the price the seller is willing to start negotiating from.

    and

"We are unlikely to uphold a complaint where the insurer has offered the consumer a fair value within a reasonable time and in accordance with the motor trade guides"
