Parking fine - Millennium Parking

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help - Ive read the newbies guide but not sure on a couple of things.
Received 2 tickets from Millennium Parking in March and May and both in a carpark where I have a permit to park.
Spoke to the carpark manager who said both tickets would be cancelled (unfortunately this was verbally as I had no reason to believe it wouldnt be done - stupid now I know!!)
Hadnt heard anything so assumed it had been cancelled and then received a 'outstanding parking charge notice) this week from parking collection services.
I phoned millennium and explained it was supposed to be cancelled and they told me to email them and explain what happened. I havent done this as yet as from reading the notice dont want it to be an admission of guilt.
Notice is dated 19/08 on both tickets. As this is outside of the 56 days does it mean it is invalid? (the outstanding bit confused me as Im not sure if they were trying to imply a previous notice had been sent, which it hasnt).
Just wanted to check the best route to take next?
Any advice much appreciated

Were the tickets originally sent through the post or just stuck on the windscreen?
(Read through the newbies thread to acquaint yourself with the situation, and in the meantime don't ring them anymore)0 -
Thanks for your reply Quentin.
The tickets were on the windscreen on both occasions.
Thats why I was reluctant to email them until I had advice from people who are more informed than me. Dont want to risk putting anything in writing which may incriminate me!!
I have read through the newbies guide but as I didnt appeal it straight away I wasnt sure where this left me. Im hoping that the date of the oustanding notice, being outside of 56 days, may make it invalid?0 -
The letter is from a debt collector! Ignore0
-
So I shouldnt even bother asking for a POPLA code and appealing?0

You can if you want to (they won't supply a code at this late stage), but don't admit to being the driver.
But don't respond to the debt collector's letter!0
