I just got two late payment notices on my credit file off United Utilities

Which has lowered my credit rating badly. I have spent the past four years paying my debts in order to get my credit rating up in order to get a mortgage in the next few years, now I have had this my credit is right back down in the two hundreds.
My issue is that I paid my bill as soon as I was aware I was in arrears, which was only brought to my attention when I received a claims form for a CCJ saying if I do not pay I will receive a CCJ for £433.18.
This was at the beginning of July 2015, stating I never made a payment in April 2015. I only moved to this apartment in December 2014 and made a payment to united utilities in January 2015. I was under the impression you make one United Utilities Payment per year, so assumed I was done until the following year.
I have complained to United Utilities about me getting the two late payments on my file which are for July and August 2015 I paid in July!!! and they refuse to remove them stating they sent me three letters requesting payment, this is a lie I never got one letter.
If I had I would of payed right away as I did when I got the CCJ claims form, especially since I have worked so hard and sacrificed a lot, to get my credit score higher the last few years. So why would I ruin this by not paying my water bill?
I got the CCJ form which was issued the 29th of June 2015, I made contact with United Utilities as soon as I got the form and arranged to pay by the 21st of July in full. When I was making this payment plan I was assured by the representative that I would not get any adverse notes on my files what so ever if I kept to my agreement. WhichI did. They also assured me when i was paying the bill I would not get any bad notes on my files.
I have requested that they remove the late payment markers off my file as they are illegal and they refuse saying just because I never received any letters that it is my problem and its between me and royal mail.
All the people I have spoke to at United Utilities have been rude and condescending, also they have been quite bullyish.
I need to know how I can bring legal action against United utilities??

    Hi

I’m not sure about whether you could start legal action against United Utilities, but you could complain to the Energy Ombudsman if you aren’t satisfied with their complaint resolution.

What for? Difficult to believe that all your mail went astray with the exception for the CCJ.

The bill would have clearly stated the period it covered. So there should be no assumption or impression coming into the matter

There were never any letters sent in the first place.

I assumed that I had paid a year already, as I always pay a year off and then do not have to worry for a whole year. So assumptions are easily made in a situation like this.

Plus when you lead a busy life style, you tend to read how much you owe on bills, pay them then put the letter in the recycle bin.

Why were you under the impression you paid once a year, did they tell you that? In the January did you pay sufficient to cover a year's charges, how much did you pay?

Slow down a little then. Rather than repeat the same mistakes over and over. You may also find people more receptive to you when you speak to them. People who are doing their job react to how they are treated.
