ICICI initial cheque deposit.... who to?!

Hi, I must have my thick hat on today but after applying for the ICICI online saver account and getting 2 separate emails, I am now asked to may a cheque payable for £1 or more as my initial deposit "with my initials on" plus according to the email, payable to "My name, plus a long number"... eh?

I assumed it would be payable to them, ICICI, so what use is a cheque written by me, payable to myself, sent to them?

Someone please explain, put me right and make me stand in the dunces corner!

It's your account, therefore you make it payable to yourself followed by your new account number. It's pretty standard to do so when opening an account.
