Liebherr fridge freezer faulty - please help!

Hello,

We just bought a second hand Liebherr fridge freezer and was taken back home in my car. Obviously, I had to transport it on a side but even though I left it for a couple days to settle, is just not working anymore ?!

I can hear the compressor running and there is no sign of damage on the back. However, none of the fridge or freezer is not cooling.

I rang a few repairers but they charge a £50 call out fee :(

Any ideas what else can I try, please?

Many thanks

  • Well, obviously the first thing to ask is . . have you set the thermostat correctly?

If it's not that, the next thing I'd try would be to bypass the thermostat, and see if the fridge started to pull the temperature down, which is quite easy if you know what you're doing, but wouldn't want you getting a shock?

Are you sure it was working at the time you bought it?

Assuming it's frost free it could be one (or more) of any number of things. Impossible to say without looking at it.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

We had a very similar problem with a Liebherr fridge-freezer when it was 2 years old and discovered to replace the compressor was more than the rrp of the fridge!

That said, Liebherr were incredibly helpful on the phone and provided a new, more expensive replacement for a nominal cost. You might find giving them a call might be worthwhile.

Can I ask if you remember which number did you ring them on, please?
Frost free fridge freezer, thermostat is on top and is set to the lowest temperature. I also pressed the super freeze button.

That's a good point. I only put it on for a minute or two but didn't have any alarm so I presumed was all fine. I didn't wait long enough to see if starts to cool down...
