Help with credit card debt

Thanks for the info everyone...
I had heard that we need to check on whether the credit card had PPI and if so that would potentially cover the CC debt... This is something that I assume will be in the CC agreement under "optional protection insurance" or something similar, are the banks (Natwest) usually willing to give that info over the phone as I've heard lots of them try to avoid the point?
Another issue im hoping to pursue with the CC company is that my dad was terminally diagnosed in August last year but then carried on paying the credit card off every month up until the end of January, I think that the payments and interest should of been stopped from the day he was diagnosed or am I wrong?0 -
A goodwill gesture to freeze interest and refrain from adding penalty charges once the diagnosis was made would have been nice, but banks rarely do "nice". However, they should have frozen the account from the time of death. Is the CC still adding interest & charges ?
To see if there was PPI, check the statements and see if there were any "optional protection insurance" payments - These should be fairly easy to spot as they will (normally) be a percentage of the balance.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

We froze everything at the end of Jan, however the Natwest were pretty rubbish as they then allowed some Direct Debts to go out which they eventually repaid to the account and admitted fault to... unfortunately things were a bit to busy for us to think of asking the bank to freeze things at the time of diagnosis but perhaps they will be kind if we do have to pay and take the 6 months worth of charges and interest off the final bill..0
