work programme and my mobile num help

hi, just a little help needed with my Work Programme provider, when I first went I was pressured into giving them my mobile number, even though at first I refused and asked them to contact me by post, as they are meant to..
Anyhow my mobile contract is now up and I have gone on PAYG, with a new number, I don't want to give this to them and I told them i no longer have a mobile as i cant afford it, they now insist i either call or email them 3 times a week to see if they have a interview for me, they even suggested contacting me on my partners num which i gave them for the emergency use only.
can they sanction me for not doing this and i just insist they contact me by post?
any help please to get these vultures off my back, thanks

You contacting them sounds like a good compromise. I'm surprised you're not being referred for a potential sanction - if you're claiming to have no means of contact how do you expect employers to contact you?0

thanks for the reply, when I apply for jobs which I apply for myself, jobs suitable for me, I do give them my number, its just my work programme provider I don't want to. I was told that its part of the work programme providers contract that they must contact you by post or written note of any meetings, interviews etc.., not to be constantly called up with any appointments or interviews they see fit..0

Sounds like you’re just being awkward to me.
Whenever I have looked for a new job it usually involves putting my details onto a recruitment website and taking calls and emails, the majority from recruiters for unsuitable jobs but it’s worthwhile being polite and speaking with them and wishing them luck finding the right person so your name gets out there, it’s all sowing seeds.
If the job is genuinely not suitable for you it shouldn't be more than a few minute conversation.0 -

Seems like the right answer to me0 -

You've told them you don't have a number - if referred to the Jobcentre you're going to have to keep up the lie or admit you have lied, both are good reason for a sanction. Do you actually want a job?0 -
Why is it inconvenient for you to receive their calls?
It's not like they'll be interrupting you at work or anything is it?
You are being unnecessarily uncooperative. The time you've spent researching and arguing against giving them your number is likely to be greater than the calls themselves.:hello:0 -

I presume the op has given the wp their email address.
I was referring to contact with employers - surely you don't expect a recruiter arranging interviews to wait around for the OP to check their emails? Most employers would reject an applicant with no contact number - and this is the lie the OP is portraying.0 -
All pre employment communication with my previous employer was through email only. But that's bye the bye the op didn't want the wp to have his number, not a prospective employer.
When your benefits are reliant on you complying with the tasks asked of you, surely it makes sense to have those tasks in writing doesn't it?0 -

The OP told the WP he does not have a phone - no phone also means no phone for employer contact. He can't have it both ways, at least not without admitting he makes up stories.
If the provider has information about a potential interview tomorrow then phone contact is the most appropriate form of contact.0
