Hi

I have set up a ClearScore account and wondered if anyone else has used it and if so how accurate you have found it.

Under my report overview it states a negative against me is that: "You have exceeded your credit card limit several times in the past year".

I have not exceeded my credit card limit at all so I was wondering where they would get this information?

The only thing digging deeper into my details I can work out is that because my credit card initially had a low limit I would use it, pay lump sums onto it during the month, then use it again. This then shows that I have 'higher' spending on my card than the limit, although I have never at any time exceeded my credit limit - a very dangerous assumption to make!

If people are paying for this information (although this site is free) and attempting to increase their credit worthiness, seeing this sort of information could worry them, particularly if they believe that they have a negative against them that is being reported incorrectly.

I read your post and signed up for this report so I could have a look, and my report says the same thing about exceeding my cc limits several times over the last year, which is wrong, I haven't been over my limit at all.

I was going to use but you have to submit a lot of information over the internet.

I can't remember if Noddle ask the same but you could double check your file there:

I use my card similar to you as I have a low limit at the moment also, I will have to check my clearscore report to see if it says the same for me, have you reported this to them if so let us know the outcome, it might be fine at equifax end and just be how clearscore is reporting it maybe.

So meanwhile you are selling a defective product?

I would think that something like this should have been ironed out before the service went live.

ClearScore is free, so even though this problem is annoying as it is telling you something that isn't true and it is obviously an issue they are gonna sort out, you shouldn't be too annoyed as this service is free, but I agree they should get it resolved as its only gonna confuse people.

would you not be better "advertising" elsewhere - this is a UK site so I expect that the users here will not fit the criteria for the $ payday loans
  • Just a quick update in case it helps anyone else.

My clearscore had a warning that I had been over my credit limit on my CC several times over the last year, which was incorrect. I contacted them to tell that the information they had was incorrect. After a few days they emailed me to say their back end team had checked the data and it was correct.

So I contacted the CC company and spoke to their credit services department who investigated and confirmed that I had NOT been over my limit ever, and that was reported to the CRA correctly.

I have raised disputes with both sites and will feedback when they respond but think I know what has happened. I was paying off this particular card and when I reached a milestone amount, asked for the limit to be reduced. What this meant was that the statement balance, limit history and balance history is mismatched for a couple of months and treated as being over your limit.

I checked Experian and they show the correct information so I think it is to do with how the other system interprets the information, incorrectly in this case.

This may also impact people like one of the previous posts in this thread who uses their credit limit several times in one month as well.

Anyway, hope this helps anyone else who may have the same issue and yes, in hindsight I should not have lowered the balance as I went, but nothing I can do about this now, live and learn eh!
