I think I see your confusion...when you've opened control panel, change the view to classic view, then you see all ;)

    Update:

Thanks everyone for your help yesterday, I just wanted to give you an update on my ailing lappy.

The retailer contacted me yesterday evening, most apologetic, and will be sending me a replacement battery by courier, and asked me to contact him as soon as I receive it to confirm that is fully functional, but will send me a refund if I prefer.

When I finished working last night, as suggested by a poster, I switched off the power and disconnected the cable to let it have a break over night, and hopefully charge back to 100%. Unfortunately it didn't, and still remains at 48%, and so I am thinking that it might in fact have something to do with the actual reader of the battery gage and not the battery itself, as lappy is working perfectly well, and so I'll see what happens.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Good luck I hope your new battery works. I would suggest when you get the new one that you put all the batteries together and compare. Dell serialize everything so look for unique serial numbers andyou can check them on the Dell website to see if they are genuine.

Thanks Rich, I definitely will do that, as I have already compared both the original and Ebay battery on their percentage levels and also the productivity of my lappy - so far, there is none, but I will definitely take a note of the serial numbers for future reference.

Have a good weekend and Bank Holiday.
