Transfer Property Owneership into Son's Name's

My 84 year old Mother may need to go into a care home within a year:(

So can she transfer her property into her son's names now so it's value is not used to pay for care?

The property sale value circa £125k is to be split three ways upon her death and she wishes for us all to have maximum benefit from it's sale having worked hard to own it and pay her taxes along the way.

    Look up "deprivation of assets"

The quick answer is NO, the local authority know what you are up to and will probably reclaim it all

In that situation who would pay for her care?

She (and you) should also look at what care options are available if she isn't making any contribution herself. Personally, I'd rather make my own choices rather than putting up with whatever the local authority is willing to pay for.

So you want me and many others to pay for your mother's care?

You could look after her yourselves, but that's unlikely to be an option, so you have to face your responsibilities.

Think about renting the house. Does she get Attendance Allowance?
