I know it's a horrible stressful time, sounds like you've really had enough and i dont blame you. One thing we on this forum can certainly do is shmpathise as we have all been there. But sometimes you really just can't do anything but hang on. I'm sure it'll sort itself out in the next few days, and you'll be in your lovely new home very soon.0

I've been there. Turns out our buyers solicitors hadn't exchanged the process properly to them, they didn't realise how and when they needed to pay their deposit. In our case the most useful person was the estate agent who did all the chasing and the information sharing.
Hope it gets sorted quickly for you.Determined to save and not squander!

Thanks everyone for your comments!!
Turns out the chasing was a good idea! Turns out the buyer has transferred the deposit on Friday but had not added in a reference. This meant the solicitor was not aware it had arrived. The buyer wasn't aware ther was an issue as it was showing cleared.
Anyhow apparently it took a while but the solicitor think they have found it, they just want to check with the buyer that the account numbers match. Once confirmed and all going well should hopefully be exchanging tomorrow!!
Fingers crossed!! I don't think I can take much more stress and I am bored of hearing myself say "hi it's xxxx from xxxx is there any update"0 -
Countrywide Solicitors. That wouldn't be a surprise.0

Yep...absolute nightmare throughout the whole thing. If I ever sell again I would absolute not proceed with a buyer who were using countrywide!!0 -

Yeah, I couldn't warn people off CountryWide solicitors strongly enough. HSBC insisted on using them in the old days when they'd only work with a panel - I had my own sols, as did my seller. Everything was fine apart from Countrywide, who managed to lose/delay everything they went near. And then faxed all my info to my seller's sols!! And to top it off, on completion, faxed everything to another person entirely - not even part of our transaction.
I completely lost my rag at HSBC and they paid comp. but it didn't make up for making a stressful time even worse and slower than you can believe.
Still, look back at it and laugh now - what else can you do??Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
Errr. Why the dissing of the solicitor? The buyer sent the money incorrectly without a reference. Think of how many transaction go through a solicitors bank account from all sorts of directions. A reference is very important!!!0

Completely agree not totally solicitors fault this time...
But unfortunately most of the reasons we are now at almost 20 weeks is! Lost paperwork, repeated questions already had answers to, my solicitor having to leave 10 plus voice mails a day to get a response, last week when they said they had spoken to buyer and he had transferred his deposit when in fact they hadn't spoken with him at all. Questions that have no relevance to the property that I am actually selling like please can we have a copy of the lease which was asked for repeatedly when it is a freehold! Being told they need one piece of information to provide it to them to be told actually that is not what they wanted!
I could go on!! Which is the reason I would never want to have to deal with them again!
I also am pretty sure if I hadn't followed up this week the buyers solicitor wouldn't have made any attempt to have established with the buyer where his deposit was and we would all be sitting here thinking that it was all fine when it wasn't.0 -
The point is, if the buyer had sent the deposit properly they wouldn't have needed to speak to him at all and would have progressed the case.
Judging by this pretty basic mistake by the buyer, it wouldn't surprise me if more of the delays could be attributed to the buyers simpleness.0
