Old Debt - New Entry

An old debt that I am paying off via StepChange has been sold to Arrow Global. The old debt file has disappeared from my file and Arrow Global have started a new file from the date they acquired the debt that doesn't show as a defaulted account or the original default date.

I have a similar situation with a debt sold to Lowell but theirs shows the original default date and so should be removed from my file next month. Are these companies allowed to do this? It looks like a deliberate attempt to stop the bad debt being removed from my file.

Arrow Global are also reporting that every payment has been late despite the fact that I pay StepChange on time every month. They say it's because StepChange are slow to pay them but that's out of my control.

The default date should stay the same and the account should still be marked as such. You should raise a dispute with the credit reference agency.

If the original showed as an actual default, then so should Arrow's entry, with the same default date.

Complain to Arrow, showing them the original entry, and tell them that unless they correct it to show as a default with the original date, you will be reporting them to the ICO and taking them to the FOS.
