Excellent value HDTV or just cheap tat?

Options
E Buyer have this fantastic 32" Hannspree HDTV for only £300 delivered. I know its not fantastic, but its pretty damn good for the cost. The only major point that puts me off is the 750:1 contrast.

Has anyone got any views on this set....

The main thing that would put me off is the lack of a built in digital tuner. Meaning that after analogue TV is switched off you will need an additional set top box.
  • For the price, it seems to get quite positive reviews, digital tuner or not.

You can pick up a cheap freeview box for £20 these days.

I'm interested in one of these but there seem to be slight variations in model numbers and the feedback varies widely, especially from model to model.

Any more information welcome as I'm also in the market for one.

£10 more will give you the better 1200:1 model Hannspree XV JT01-32E2-000 32" LCD - unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment.

Long thread about the 750:1 model at the HUKD forum. G

having a built in tuner would put me off! if your tuner goes then its time for a new tv or buying a set top box.

As long as you are happy to have a scart socket used up and a 2nd remote control to operate 2 units, fine.

BTW all TV's have a tuner built in anyway.

    digital / freeview tuner then!

i've got Sky and the Sky remote does everything so i don't need the tv remote until it goes on a mental one.
  • I bought a Philips 37" lcd tv last week from currys online for £598 including free delivery. if you can afford to pay an extra £298 i would do so as it's bigger, better name, built in freeview, pixel plus and 5000:1 contrast ratio. In scottish terms 'It's a belter'. With lcd tv's you get what you pay for. instore the exact same tv is £800.

Not true, your Sky Remote Control will only operate the basics of your/any TV. it will not/cannot operate " everything ".
