Filling in ceiling cracks - which product?

I removed old ceiling paper to discover some ceiling cracks.
Someone told me they (many years ago) had ceiling cracks and filled them in with a 'filla product. Though the cracks opened up again.
They then used a mastic-type product (which allowed some movement) and the cracks never opened up again.
Would anyone care to suggest a mastic-type product which I could try?

How big are these cracks? if fairly small Wickes do a flexible ceiling paint, I have had good success at using it where I has some expansion cracks.
It says covers hairline cracks, but mine were quite a bit more than hairline, and I cant see them anymore.
The problem with filling expansion cracks, is that when it gets cold and closes up, whatever you fill them with gets pushed back out and looks even worse.

If they are hairline cracks, widen them up first. I have used a flat edged screw driver to gouge a "V" into the wall/ceiling first. This offers a better chance of the filling taking properly, and getting a good amount of filler to anchor to the plaster.0

We used WallRock lining paper on our ceiling. It's worked a treat for hiding the cracks.0

You want decorators caulk, comes ready mixed in a sealant tube for use in a dispensing gun - couple of quid a tube. It's got more flexibility than the powdered, plaster type fillers.0
