How can i wrap a champagne bottle up in fresh flowers? ~ updated with pics

Options
I was given a bottle of champagne free from work a few months back and its been sat in my gift box ever since. Now i would like to give this as part of a 60th birthday gift but how can i wrap it within fresh flowers? I would like to do this http://www.avianyard.com/images/12431.jpg but with fresh flowers and so you cant really see the bottle? I can create this effect with fake flowers but i would like fresh flowers... any ideas? thanks superpap

    It will depend on how far inadvance you want to make it and what sort of flowersyou want to use. You could cut a disc of oasis larger than the base of the bottle, rest the bottle in the centre then build the arrangement up from the base - the flowers would keep longer as they would have some water. You could then wrap the thing in cellophane and bunch it underneath the heads of the flowers. If you get long stemmed flowers and are willing to do it just before you give it, you could arrange them upright around the bottle, and tie them in place with rafia.

    If you wanted to create the same sort of twisted effect, you might be able to do so with a flexible wood like willow and insert flowers through the framework you build up. hth cel x

    How about using one of those metal champagne buckets or plant pot holders, put the bottle in the bottome with some water and arange the flowers around that you can even put that green stuff (florists whatever, can't remember the name) in the bottom and that holds water and would keep them fresh for quite a while.
  • thanks all ~ well i used some of your points and i have completed it... i ended up using fake flowers as then she can drink the bottle and put it back in :D so costs ~

    £0.00 ~ champagne (free from work)
    £0.00 ~ red and stars ribbon (free in a gift set)
    £0.69 ~ oasis
    £0.95 * 4 ~ fake flowers
    £0.00 ~ butterfly (free in gift set)
    £3.50 ~ cellophane
    £0.00 ~ pink ribbon (cost about 1p in jan sales 3 years ago)

    total = £7.99

    Here is the pics... i havent added the ribbon or cellophane yet as i am waiting for the latter to be delivered, i shall do that either this weekend/next or when i can find time :rotfl: so what do you think :confused:
