book flights early?

Hi,
Was just wondering what you folks think is the best thing to do, I have booked the apartement for next years holiday in tenerife and have been looking for flights. In terms of cost would I be better off booking early or waiting a little while?

Also have found what seems a good priced flight (sub £200) already with a company called "flyglobespan" read some reviews and seems mixed to say the least, has anyone got any recent experience with them?

Thanks for your time people

My advice is always if you find a flight and are happy with the price then book. The low-cost airlines (including flyglobespan) will get more expensive the nearer you get to departure dates. They work on a matrix system, selling the first 10 seats at one price, then the next 10 seats higher etc etc. Now and again they may have a sale where prices will fall, but this is never guaranteed.

The charter airlines usually start off cheaper as well, and gradually get more expensive. However, when you get very near the departure dates their prices may fall rock bottom again as tour operators want to get bums on seats. However this is very risky as you never know if there will be availability, especially as you have apartment booked!

Flyglobespan, generally the short haul european routes are as good/bad as any other charter or low cost airline, so you should be fine. Their long haul performance this summer has been nothing short of a circus act but thats another story!

The dates we have booked the appartments for are the 8th of august till the 22nd of auguast 2008. Our nearest airport is Humberside but are willing to travel as fas as Birmingham (2 1/2 hours drive)

I would be interested to hear from anymore travellers who have had any recent experience with Flyglobespan.

    Thanks

They have had "long haul problems" but short haul they are ok.I would have no problem flying with them.
Have you checked BA.com from Manchester? they are normally quite good. grub + drinks inc. too + 23 KG lugg allowance
Also Ryanair are now going to Tenerife from E Midlands and Liverpool. Next years flights are not out yet but they should be decent prices.

If you are happy with the Globespan price, just book them.
Luggage allowance is 20KG INCLUDING HAND LUGGAGE

and the flights are operated by GB Airways who are well known for changing and cancelling flights http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/gb-air.htm

I went Canaries July this year with GB airways Richard. We got fed, wine or soft drink with meal, AND a further complementary drink.
    Agree regarding delays
It is "euro traveller" for Canaries

I would generally recommend buying early if you want to be sure but it doesn't always work out.

We booked some Ryanair flights to Madrid at about £50 each. A few months later they turned up in their 1p flight offer

Booking early is the best option in most cases.

I have booked next May from LHR to PMI for £483 and now would have to pay over £200 more for the same number of seats.
It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.
