Food source labelling

Hi, what are the rules with labelling the country of origin for foods. I thought it was required by law that the origin and location of the food had to be shown on the product packaging.
I often consume nuts from a company called:
Roy Nut Foods Ltd
Unit 25 Wadsworth Business Centre
21 Wadsworth Road
Perivale, UB6 7LQ
Tel: 0208 810 6161
Web: https://www.roynutfoods.com
Email address: info@roynutfoods.com
However, I contacted them and all they said was,
"We source our nuts from various places, from all around the world."
I tend to eat a lot of them because they're cheap and generally available from corner shops in London, but I'm beginning to wonder how they keep the price down. I am of course thinking they're GM from China but then Tesco's nuts are from China.

Only certain food stuffs have to have a label of country of origin and that doesnt include nuts.
If there is GM of 1% or more then it must be labeled, below that it doesnt have to be0 -
The rules sound very lax and doubtless we're getting poisoned with all sorts of GM rubbish produced from child labour.0

If the product contains 1% of 'GM rubbish' then it should be labelled as such. Is less than 1% enough to 'get poisoned'?
Not sure how you expect to legislate against the use of child labour with food labelling.0 -
Nothing wrong with GM foods if they are that of course.0

If you're that bothered about the working conditions of the labourers and the potential of having the tiniest trace of a GM product in your food then put your money where your mouth is and shell out the extra for items that are Fairtrade and organic.0 -

Even those aren't entirely safe though. You get plenty of counterfeits and I believe there was a huge controversy around the fairtrade logo as to use it, not all of the ingredients need to be fairtrade.
So in other words, fairtrade is nothing more than a commercial gimmick to charge more for products while not necessarily passing all of that increased price over to the growers/producers so we consumers can feel better about the exploitation that goes on in our name. You keep using that word.
