Calling for Devon opinions

Hello. We are in the process of buying a Holiday Cottages business in Devon. I have sold my Estate / Letting Agency and the house is under offer. We have a moderate budget circa 1.2m. We love all of Devon really, but feel drawn to Holsworthy area. My son will be in year 6, so secondary education is important, and whilst the Route 39 has an OFSTEAD 3 it looks full of promise. We are also keen on Torbay. I just wondered if any Devon folk had any opinion's on good places to make our next venture. We also want min 5 acreas of spare land which is why we are more set on North Devon..... but its a business at the end of the day.....really open to suggestions and opinions. thanks in advance! Sarrie x

Holsworthy area is quite remote, far from a city or major town. I don't know about the schools but it's quite far from a college. It's less well known so you'll get more for your money. Roads are pretty rubbish but it is close to bude. Public transport is rubbish too. Torbay is popular and expensive with the beaches and all.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

The Chulmleigh area is a little better connected than Holsworthy, but it is further from beaches. Prices are lower than Torbay for quality property.
The college has an excellent reputation and the local area has been highlighted as one of the best for bringing up a family.
I'm biased, but I think the scenery is also better than around Holsworthy.0
