Help with CTC reduction?

Hi all

I have just noticed that my CTC have dropped by £20 a week and not sure it should of.

My situation is i receive CTC only, the family element, 2 x child element, 1 x disabled child element, so was receiving £175 a week

I am not working, my only income is £5k per year in rental income

Recently started getting CA for my son, so £62.10 a week, so an extra £3229 a year.

Rang tax credits to tell them about the CA and this seems to coincide with a drop in my weekly CTC from £175 to £155. Don't recall receiving a new award notice

As i only receive CTC, i thought the threshold was £16,105. not £6420? but the drop from £175 to £155 seems to tie up with a reduction due to taper of 41% on what i get above £6420? That's not right is it? Even if it is, surely my increase due to CA of £3229 a year is below the £5k disregard anyway?
Any clues people, before i go through the hell of trying to ring them? Does receipt of CA mean you are effectively working, so the lower threshold applies? if so, should i not then also receive WTC?

Thanks

Cas

  • Hi, i did get a couple at the beginning. I closed a zero award joint claim end of May and started a new single claim backdating to beginning of May. i received a lump sum then, shortly after i received anther lump once they had checked my sons DLA and applied the disabled child element. Since then i have been getting a weekly payment of £175.something, which is about right based on family element of £545 + 2x child element of £2780 + 1 x disabled child element of £3140, divided by 52 weeks. But that has dropped to £155 the last few weeks since i informed them of the CA

    Thanks

    23 Jun- 21 Jul 5 x £175.12
28 Jul £159.69 (this is about when i reported CA)
