Virgin credit card refusal

Hi,
My girlfriend was refused for Virgin credit card so she tried to check her Experian credit report. She could not register with her current address (we live on a university campus) so she registered with her previous address.
The old bank accounts registered at her previous address showed up on the report but not her current accounts and phone bill (those were just on linked addresses). She updated the address to her current address online and rang up Experian to link her current accounts. They added her phone bill and her nationwide account but wanted scanned copies of her bank statements to add her first direct and Santander accounts.
She has never had any debt and never missed any payments. She had one store card once which she used once and is now settled. She's never had a credit card before.
Does the confusion over her current address affect her credit rating and could that be why Virgin refused her application? Or is it because she's never had a credit card and needs to get a non premium credit card to build up history first?
Is there any other way to "fix" the address issues other than update all three credit check companies with current information?
Thanks for the help.

Just tried the Credit Card Eligibility Calculator with our address and it says:
Unfortunately, we have not been able to find your details at the Credit Bureau. Please check and try again.
How can we fix this?No one has ever become poor by giving0 -
By doing what you are doing - provide Experian with what they ask for - it is probable that there is some confusion over the precise details of the address which you should be able to sort out.0

Lack of credit history (i.e lack of any proven history of paying back credit) and lack of stability (in relation to addresses) will be the main reason for the refusal. I imagine she hasnt enrolled on the electoral roll either seeing that she is living on campus which would also have a huge effect.0

Yes there is definitely some confusion with the address. Last time I spoke to Nationwide they had 3 records for her. So the best way to sort it out is to contact credit bureaus and make sure they have the correct information?alchemist.1 wrote: »Lack of credit history (i.e lack of any proven history of paying back credit) and lack of stability (in relation to addresses) will be the main reason for the refusal. Agreed about credit history and address stability. She is registered on electoral roll at uni address. Our uni address is likely to keep changing regularly. Is it worth registering all her accounts to our rental property so that she starts getting some stability? We are going to want to buy a house together at some point so we need her credit file to be as good as possible for joint mortgage application. No one has ever become poor by giving0 -

I kept all of my accounts at my parents address along with the electoral roll registration so it would make sense. Not sure how secure it is with bank statements going to a house rented out to someone but that is separate issue.0 -

Yeah that's what I do as well. So you think it's better to move her accounts to a fixed residential address, rather than try to update her credit file?No one has ever become poor by giving0
