Vauxhall Astra 1.7 diesel - fine yesterday, dead today!

Just a moan more than anything else.

Started like a dream yesterday, no problems, no worries, nothing.
This morning, key in, waited for the coil symbol to turn off (approx half a second, as usual), turned the key - no turn over at all.
Fed up with this driving malarky.

Don't tempt me. After it had dropped dead, I could eat like a king for a month!

Starter motor ? Dead battery ( just enough juice left to power the glow plugs but not enough to turn the engine ? ) - try some jump leads.
  • Hey Ebe, thanks for the tips. More a pain in the you-know-where - hour and a half walk into work this morning. Happy Dave....

Have you tried jumping it? Modern batteries tend to just fail instead of the good old days (and short lived ones!) that generally lost power over time before completely letting you down.

Buy a 3-litre BMW, you know it makes sense.
  • It's not by any chance an auto is it?
