Labour gain a local councillor in 'Tory' Worthing for the first time in 40 years last night.
People are increasingly voting Labour now despite Corbyn and Abbott's previous (and current) political stances. This is less about Labour and more about a crisis in confidence in the politically moribund Tories.

The fact that they bang on about trivial personality politics instead of real issues is so telling!
For the first time in years real change may be coming. You were right as well Tromking.....Brexit doesnt have to be a right wing bargain basement, Singapore like outcome.
Labour took seats from right-wingers last night as it saw its vote leap on a day of six council by-elections.

Jeremy Corbyn’s party won wards in Thanet in Kent and Worthing in Sussex, as well as holding on in a key area of middle England last night.

Overall Labour made a gain of two seats by the time four out of the six results had been declared.

It took the Margate Central ward in Thanet from UKIP, where the eurosceptics’ vote plunged, and the Marine seat in Worthing from the Tories.

Labour also retained the Loughborough Shelthorpe seat in Charnwood in Leicestershire, according to data provided by BritainElects.

    Margate Central (Thanet)

    Labour gain from UKIP.

    Labour 57.5 per cent (+23.7)

    Conservative 24.1 per cent (+3.6)

    UKIP 6.6 per cent (-25.2)

    Lib Dems 4.2 per cent

    Independent 3 per cent

    Greens 2.9 per cent (-8.6)

    Independent 1.6 per cent

    Milton Regis (Swale)

    Labour gain from UKIP

    Labour

    Conservative

    UKIP

    Lib Dems

    Penshurst, Fordcombe and Chiddingstone (Sevenoaks)

    Conservative hold.

    Conservative 58.8 per cent (+5.5)

Lib Dems 34 per cent (+0.2)

    Labour 7.2 per cent (+7.2)

    Marine (Worthing)

    Labour gain from Conservative

    Labour 47.4 per cent (+27.8)

    Conservative 38.8 per cent (-6.4)

Lib Dems 11.3 per cent (+1.1)

    Greens 2.5 per cent (-6.2)

St Margaret’s with St Nicholas (King’s Lynn)

Result to be declared on Friday.

    Loughborough Shelthorpe (Charnwood)

    Labour hold

    Don't bank on it:

    1987 271 seats Kinnock
    2010 258 seats Brown
    2017 262 seats Corbyn

A miserable kicking, and that was with the benefit of him lying to students about paying their debts & many of them probably voting twice because of it. That's was his chance & thankfully he blew it.

Meanwhile how's his "new kind of politics" going. Lets take a look at his Shadow Minister for Public Health. Eight years ago she was caught up in the expenses scandal because she lobs her husband £30K+ a year. At the time she told us:

“This ruling and the wider Kelly recommendations as a whole will undoubtedly mean a big change for me and for my family, as well as my other staff and whilst I fully intend to stick to Sir Christopher Kelly’s recommendations I won’t be making any changes overnight, although, I appreciate I will have to sooner rather than later.”

Except she lied, and has carried on as before.

Same horrible election results as before. Same lying Labour MPs as before, pretending to be socialists whilst really they have their snouts fully in the trough.

    Oh dear Jeremy Corbyn.

All this anti-Labour acid is just a smokescreen. Is Labour the solution to the nation's problems? No of course not. But when has politics been about bragging about how bad your opponents are? The Tories are in a mess as well, neither has the solutions the nation needs, so why not focus on the positives?
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

    The Thatcherite/NuLabour consensus is ending.
Will a left wing Corbyn Labour party ever win a majority, I doubt it. What is achievable however is a progressive alliance than can end the excesses of the Tories. The Corbyn 'project' is less about power and more about changing established voting patterns.

A new smear against Labour and before you throw mud you should look at your own crew! I could trawl google and find loads like this:-

You may be right but all I know is things have changed dramatically over the last few weeks and Labour are no longer 20 points behind but starting to have some leads. Who would have thought it a few weeks ago:-

    Indeed.
Corbyn has exceeded everyone's expectations, who`s to say that he won't get the top job via a Labour majority. Although a distant second place, Labour even came runner up in my rural West Devon constituency.
Corbyn is changing the established political order of the country, I'm happy with just that at the moment.

Surprised to see that Moby couldn't resist reading what I wrote, only a couple days ago he was saying how nobody cared. Maybe he's had a change of heart? Like he did about Corbyn who he used to despise? Who knows. Perhaps he just changes his mind more easily than most of us?

Although it's good to see that 99% of his posts are still links to Guardian articles. And the Huffington post too, just for a bit of variety haha.

Uncanny that both of you, both prison officers, should think alike. Almost like you're the same person.

I would never suggest that though, and tbh I don't even think it. I just think you both have jobs you hate & are looking for somebody to blame for it.

The irony of course, would be if Corbyn ever got in. The inevitable swathing cuts to public services would hit you worst of all. But I suppose you'd always be able to find some other evil Tory to blame.

Meanwhile the Tories you both seem to hate would probably be OK. Funny that.

Um, except he hasn't. Almost everybody thought he'd be sh*t.

    And. unsurprisingly, he was sh*t.
