  • Listened to crudas (sp) on radio 4 this morning (Labour strategist)

He seemed more of a viable pm than any of the other labour candidates I've heard - I wonder why he's not run? Doesn't want it I guess
Left is never right but I always am.

Possibly..... but if the Labour party does split New Labour 1+2 would probably oppose the Tories so Tory would need to stay United.

What's the odds of some Labour defections to Tory?
Not as simple as that as they would split votes in election possibly giving Tories a bigger majority.

Possible than some Labour MPs will be nearer to the left on Tory party but I'd be surprised if many defect.

It has been a funny old campaign - intially it was all about the three mainstream candidates addressing the official Labour party report into why they lost the 2015 election - .

Don't forget about Chuka Umunna. One day when older and wiser he will return to the fray. All the ingredients to be a statesman just not the right time.

Well it'll be fun for me, laughing at Mr Corbyn from afar for a while if he wins. Less fun for you lot if he ever manages to get in.

It's a tough call to say who is the funnier: Corbyn or the rather overwhelmingly awful Tony Abbott, IMHO.

I've just left Oz unfortunately (resisted temptation to move back to UK though) but still shamelessly addicted to the soap opera of Australian politics. Shocked that so few people seem to realise Tony was born in London and has an English father, factors which presumably fuel his obsession with the honours system, improptu displays of love for Duke of Edinburgh etc. in spite of the wishes of the voting population....and all the weird broken promises and "changing tax landscape" and special levies but "no tax increases" etc. ....and wheeling out his (unofficial scholarship) daughter(s) and commenting on their sex appeal during his election campaign. Like it's ever appropriate for a father to do that.

Anyway, on balance, I would settle on Corbyn as the funnier (only because Tony always makes me feel a little ill after I've finished laughing at him).
  • Channel 4 news are trying to do a hatchet job on Corbyn now. Some Labour MP woman mooching around Somerset with Rhys Mogg interviewing glum boomers who don't want to pay any inheritance tax and saying they'll never vote Labour again if they have to.

A few young people slipped through who are Pro Corbyn.
  • Labor woman (jess Philips) saying Labour shouldn't have Corbyn because he's a 'white man from London'.

She has inadvertently summed up everything I hate about what Labour have become. A stupid mouth piece of dog whistle identity politics. Staffed by phonies whose only ambition is to ape the conservatives.

    Up Corbyn!!!

House prices will rocket even more if he wins, the market will factor that as a Tory win for 2020. Come 2019 there will be some market jitters just in case the unthinkable happens but overall the markets will love a Corbyn result I dare say.

FTSE up the next day I reckon too.

On an other note, if you haven't seen ' a very British coup' it's a must watch.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

Politics is important but so is the head doing the talking

some people are just natural debaters and just do a good job on stage every time. Its probably something that only comes naturally and very few people have it. He isn't as gifted as George Galloway but he is gifted enough that having him as the head of a party will produce a notable swing to his direction whatever his policies are

speaking of Galloway wonder if he will be welcomed back.
