Advise please credit report shows late payment on closed credit card

As titled I have just logged in to my noddle credit report, I was shocked to see my credit rating had dropped. I quickly spotted a "late payment" on a credit card has appeared only this month (today is 24 August) in the July status history, however the card was closed in May.

Please could you advise who should I contact to resolve this?
There is a "dispute" button in noddle.

I have records the credit card was closed over the telephone at the beginning of May. I recall the credit card customer service member assured me he would call if any issues with closing the account.



Has anyone had a similar experience?

    It's obviously the CC provider, not Noddle.
    A correct closure should have resulted in a written confirmation and a final statement.
    And it's always a bad idea to rush with cancelling a DD if it was the way you were making payments.
  • Did you used to pay off your card in full every month? If not it could well be trailing interest as you must pay it off in full for two consecutive months after incurring any interest to get it to a true nil balance.

    A closure can only be done once its at a true nil balance and so they'd put the request into the system but its not effective until that final second payment is made.

    Had you received the letter confirming the account is now actually closed? What does your last statement show?

    Thanks for your replies, I have always made a monthly manual payment because DD was not an option with this particular bank.

    Back in beginning of May the customer advisor assured me all interest had been settled and my account was in credit, so he actioned a transfer of the remaining balance to my current account.

    The statement of my current account in May displays this transfer from the credit card.
    The credit card account no longer appeared on the online banking account overview screen, and there is no option to view statments of this account, just the current account remains.

    On the credit report, the credit card balance shows '0' balance from May onwards; however it displays a "sustained arrears" & "payment was up to 3 months late" in the month of July.

    I have contacted the CC bank in question, they were unable to explain what has happened today, but have been assured I should hear from them over the next few days.
