How Many Job Applications for JSA?

  • Hi Batman 100

Thanks for that. I applied for 15 jobs in 2 weeks, and made a 'business proposition' to a company - they were happy with that.

20 a week is a lot, and I reckon at that rate I'd be applying for a lot of jobs I'm not really suited to.

I've only started signing on, so maybe they are being easy on me. Anyway, I'll need to pick up the pace, as there no way I can pay all my bills on £73 a week.

    Cheers

It all really depends on what sort of work you're looking for and how frlixible you are as to how many applications you make. I'd avoid telling JCP that you're doing some application where you simply hit the apply button and don't fall into the habit of doing all you mandatory searches the night before you go to sign on. I did that once and found out the hard away that they've at started doing random checks on people's UJM accounts to make sure you're using it on a daily basis. I only just avoided a sanction for that.

Due to the work I do there is no way I could find a suitable job, customize an application, send it off and chase it up in a short period of time. My agreement was to look for work every day and to apply for 3 jobs a week and that to me was more than enough.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

When I was on briefly on JSA they told me to apply for upwards of 20 a week - well I struggled to find more than 4 or 5 some weeks, when I said this the job advisor guy opened the job search, clicked "all" and said "there, hundreds!" - to this I pointed out the jobs were things such as HGV driver and he shrugged and said "a job is a job" :rotfl:as if I could possibly do that. Luckily I wasn't on it for long!!

So far my 'Job Coach' has been pleasant to me, and hopefully I will have found work before I am expected to become a 'Jack of All Trades.'

The 'Job Coach' did hand me a random job he thought I could apply for, and I just said that's not the type of work I have much experience of.

    Cheers
