Smart Parking - but I didn't park smartly - to pay or not to pay?

Hi there!
I've read with interest a lot of the previous posts about Smart Parking / Asda parking problems. Well, i have a similar situation and wondered if anyone might be able to offer any advice please?
I wasn't someone that had overstayed a free parking limit - i was on Asda property but parked in a no parking area (it is a back entrance to Asda which is supposed to be for buses, although no routes actually use it). Many 'locals' use this as a car park because it is more convenient. Whilst i know i shouldn't park there, i did. I have the receipt from a 5 minute visit to the store on Saturday evening, just before 9pm.
Do you think i should pay? The decent part of me thinks i should because i'm in the wrong. But i don't want to pay if it is unjustified and the company is preying on a person's good nature and hoping they'd pay with the threat of further action.
Any help gratefully received. Thanks in advance!

If you are thinking on paying or that PPCs are any kind of decent/reasonable companies, stop wasting our time right now!
Otherwise, get stuck-in to the Newbies Sticky for all the info/ammo you need to see this-off.

So you parked waywardly, but £100, you could beat up an O.A.P. or destroy a bus shelter for less that that
They are being greedy, appeal and cost them money, they get enough from the saps who pay up.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I've probably had more tickets at Asda than everyone on this board. Not paid a single penny yet, and don't intend to start.0

Thanks everyone - am definitely going to appeal - The Deep's response really hit it home for me, the charge is outrageous! Thanks again.0
