Where can I buy Ibuprofen in bulk?

I'm not planning on taking them in bulk, its just that I have a repeat prescription and get 100 x 600mg tablets for £6.85 precription charge. It works out that i could buy them albeit at a lesser dose, for slightly less than this, but i wouldn't have the hassle of going to the surgery to put my request in, going back to pick it up, then to the pharmacy. I could get them in ASDA, but I can only buy 2 pks of 16 at a time. So, can I buy then in bulk online?

I wonder if a letter from your doctor to your ASDA pharmacist along the lines of 'Katykat needs to take x mg of Ibuprofen a day. Please sell her up to y 600mg tablets per week' would do the trick?

Alternatively, many pharmacies will collect prescriptions from doctors' surgeries and have them ready for you to pick up and some will even deliver them to your door.

I buy mine from Home Bargains at 25p for 16. They are only 200mg though. I usually buy 4 packs at a time.

Shops like asda only let you buy a couple of packs of painkillers-i've been refused at the checkout for trying to buy more in one go (not to do anything silly with-just because OH was ill, and i wanted some to put in cupboard just in case). They made me look as if i was a drug addict or trying to overdose!

Not sure where to buy online in bulk..... you might not be able to to be honest. If you get a prescription-thats more then you could normally buy in one go anyway? sorry i can't help more.

Costco sell them in bulk, shrink wrapped in about 12 or 16 packs of 12 (don't quote me, a while since I have been).

They will let you buy in quantity as they will assume you have a retail outlet where you will see them, I presume..

you can get 100x200mg from pharmacists like boots, but they will only sell you one and it will cost you nearly £5

If you go to a pharmacy you can buy boxes of generic Ibuprofen 400mg in packs of 96. Cuprofen maximum strength tablets are about £6.99 for 96 tablets. You might be able to get an evern cheaper brand. It probably works out slightly more expensive buying it from a pharmacy than getting it on prescription but at least it's more convenient.

Alternatively you could sign up to a pharmacy's prescription collection service or enquire about managed repeat.

If you have a Poundland near you, try there? They sell 3 packs of 24 (I think) for £1 but don't seem to restrict the number you can buy at once - last time I bought £4's worth and they didn't bat an eyelid.

Thanks folks, think I might try the pharmacy pickup service. Hoping to be off them soon anyway, having an op on Friday to ( hopefully) cure the problem.

depends how many prescriptions oyu get but have you thought of the pre paid certificate?
think its around £35 for 4 months?

Pre payment certificates have changed now. You can't get 4 month ones anymore. Only 3 months £26 something or 12 months £98 something.
