Drain the water, clean up the kitchen floor, switch off machine, and do not use. Save up and get someone in to fix....

Thanks Martin - will probably have to do that but thought someone may have experienced same problem or be a technician...it is MSE after all!

Either you haven't put it back together properly or you've broken something, it's difficult to tell from here.

Do you know if the drain plug can be the problem? Have sorted the filter just seems odd that the whole thing is damaged so easily. Will have to call someone to look at it- just so annoying when you are doing home maintenance to preserve everything!
  • If it is not too old, maybe take out a warranty and leave it a few weeks, then call them out.....

After draining the water, take the filter out and try again. I have in the past experienced this with Miele washing machines. The filter can be very hard to put back exactly correctly - you may need to de-scale it.
Put a basin underneath, start the machine and switch off immediately you see a problem. You'll then only have a small amount to drain.
    Good luck

Thank you Jackyanne - still trying to get it in the right place but getting decidedly fed up with it. Why do they make things so difficult?

Well, the cynics would say, so that you have to keep doing call outs!

I am a Miele fangirl and have had their stuff since I could first afford it (bought with a legacy in 1995). Fantastic quality, but eccentric!

They are quite "old style" as a company, and remain very "germanic" in design & attitude. For instance, their cookers (and I praise my Miele steam oven daily!) translate German recipes into English, but they don't allow their experienced English domestic economists to put English style recipes on-line.

Something that may be worth doing is to ring their customer centre in Abingdon. I have done this sometimes. They do tend to default to "shall we arrange for a technician to call?" but if you are firm they may be able to be helpful. I have found them quite sympathetic.

Hi - just to say I have sorted the problem (thanks Jackyann) the filter needs to be screwed in so tight it's almost impossible! However the problem is solved now and thanks to all!:j
