year abroad as language assistant

I am about to begin a year as a language assistant in Clermont Ferrand, France, as part of my degree. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on cheapest way to get there, the best way to find affordable accommodation, tips on the best way to manage my spending - best credit card etc. or, indeed ANY advice at all!! Unfortunately, I've heard nothing from my school yet ( probably still on hol) but I want to get things moving. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hey there
I'm doing the same this year and one of my friends is going to Clermont Ferrand.
Cheapest way to get there...probably Ryanair then the TGV, but you're only allowed 15kg of luggage with Ryanair.
Check out www.assistantsinfrance.com - there's loads of advice on there from people who've been assistants in the past.0
