Proms tickets - advice please

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I am wondering if anyone has any experience of buying the Arena standing tickets (sold just before the performance) for The Proms or has any tips on buying tickets before the event.
I know that I have left it a bit late but I am hoping to attend the evening performance on Bank Holiday Monday (Michael Ball).
My understanding is that if I want to get up close my best chance is to queue for the Arena tickets on the day and be prepared to stake out a good place at the front of the queue with plenty to eat & drink.
Or if anyoine here has access to a good seat please pm me.
