new consumer unit and addition of external 20amp socket

Options
Research has given me the idea that i should be paying around 400-450 for a bog standard replacement of my consumer unit but whilst that work is being done i feel i should future-proof the wiring and add an external power socket outside that would be able to run a hot-tub i intend to get next year :T

sods law the CU is in my kitchen and the hot-tub would need to be situated on the other side of the house so would probably need a run of about 30 meters of cable to it - anyone have any idea on how much i should expect to pay for the whole job before i go out and start getting quotes (the reason i am asking first is because i hate getting quotes etc and if the first person comes in with a price near to what i am expecting then i just accept that and go with them!)

Not sure what you mean by a "20A socket" as socket outlets are either 13A (for a standard BS 1363 socket outlet) or 16A for a Commando socket (other sizes available also - 20A not being one of them!).

As for the cost it would really depend on what needs to be done so realistically you would be better off getting people out to quote. Get more than one quote if you like, and don't just go for the cheapest quote.

cheers for the input, i guess i would be best off with a 32A commando socket being added.

given i have plenty of time as i am not intending to get the tub until next summer i may just get the CU changed anyway and make sure it has the extra capacity to add another feed later on.
