Has anyone here been taken to court (not TDP) by landlord for damages? outcomes?

Just wondering if anyone here had been taken to small claims court by landlord for damages and what the outcome was and what happened?

Would most appreciate any replies?

It'll depend entirely on the strength of the landlord's case.
  • Not just the strength of the landlord's case, also depends upon how well the tenant can defend the landlord's claim.

The judge will decide the outcome based upon the quality of evidence supplied and the applicable legislation.

A claim normally goes to court because there is a dispute.

One person (in this case the LL) believes they are owed money. The other person (in this case the Tenant) believes they don't owe the money.

The court will look at the specific details of the individual case, and decide who is probably correct.

If you want to explain the details of your specific case here, people may be able to give opinions about who would win.

(If it's simply a case that the Tenant owes money but doesn't want to pay, the Tenant is very unlikely to win.)

Many people get taken to court by their landlord.

Sometimes the court rules in favour of the LL. Sometimes the court rules in favour of the T.

Without full details it is pointless to speculate. Even with full details, judges can sometimes be unpredictable.

    The important question would be;
How many landlords ever actually recover any debts from ex-tenants..?
No idea how many, but at least one. Me.

An interesting question would be, who are these "nightmare" tenants?
Errrrr.... not sure it's legally a good idea for me to name them!

    Where have they come from
    Neasdon
    and where do they go?
    Colindale.
    Are they "serial nightmare tenants"?
Can't answer that. They moved out to become home-owners (I traced them from electoral register), but my best guess is they'd been "serial nightmare tenants" before I had the misfortune to meet them.

    Born again christians too! Ha!
