Prepayment meters
Comments
-
Hi, not used a forum before but after some advice, I've been on prepayment meters for gas and electricity for 3 years, and have recently noticed my gas statement says I owe £800? How is this possible when I only pay for what I use?
If it is claimed you owe £800, you presumably have not paid for what you used/estimated to have used.
How is this possible?
Lots of possibilities. Post a copy of your statement (remove personal details) and we can take a look for you, otherwise we will just be guessing at the answer.0 -
Check screen 26. Debt is loaded onto that screen with screen 27 showing weekly repayment.Standing charges can build up when non crediting but even if you ve been in the nick for three years it would only build up to £240 at the most.£2k debt loaded onto prepays is nt at all uncommon so do you have a debt from a former credit meter. The most debt I ve seen is 9k ! and its quite possible for that to occur.
Gas prepays can get into debt when a meter has gone faulty/battery fail leading to free gas, or bypassing and damage of the gas meter has been detected or when a warrant of entry and locksmiths charges are loaded on the meter as well as the usual non payment on credit meters0
