Complaint against Building Control.

In 2009 my neighbour conducted unlawful works in breach of the party wall award.
Works that are structually unsafe, defective, in trespass and non compliant with Building Regulations.
In 2014 both of the Borough Surveyors attended site and met with the expert witness structual engineer acting for the court.
Both BC surveyors agreed that the only possible way forward was for my neighbour to demolish the party wall works and reconstuct them.
At this stage the works had not been signed off.
Both surveyors have now left the Council without updating the case notes and the new surveyor has stated the works have been signed off????

Building Control have decided not to respond to subsequent correspondence but may have forgotten that they will have to become involved in the demolition and reconstruction works.

I have raised a formal written complaint with the Council but from past experience of them, fully expect them to close ranks and cover things up.

Please could anyone suggest any other ways of progressing this.

Thanks.

How about the structural engineer? Is he/she not around? Send correspondence in writing, preferably by recorded delivery. Council have a duty to respond to complaints. Wait for complaint to be responded.

Yes, the expert witness structural engineer still works for the court.

I see the Council complants proceedure is a 3 stage process which can take upto 30 working days and if this fails, there appears to be an outside body that could be contacted. [Local Government Ombudsman]

Such a simple problem caused by a Building Control error, one that they will not accept that they have made.

is this a repeat of a previous thread - it rings some bells?

    Thanks & well remembered.
My previous thread was about the incorrect Part A sign off, not the complaints process.

Get your local Councillor involved....they love to dig their trunk into Council business especially if they can have a go at them as it shows their electorate that they are standing up to the Council.....
20 plus years as a mortgage adviser for Halifax (have now retired), and I have pretty much seen it all....:D

Thank you both for suggesting the Councillor route, I hadn't thought of that.
I will wait for the outcome of my formal written complaint before progressing.
I had tried to contact the Mayors office and what a waste of time that was.
