Maternity leave - work perks!

I am quite sure they would not give one to a temporary teacher. If I was coming in as a temp I would not expect one.
What happens with company cars and maternity? Does it get handed over to the replacement? (No idea!)
Not all teachers have one. Just some departments.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Picking up on one point,
Working is against the rules for SMP except for KIT days, helping student should be considered working and could result in SMP being stopped.0 -
If it was my own tablet, I certainly would not set my school email up on it! Pearsonally I see it as a benefit to the school if I have use of it, as I am quite sure I will get subject related emails from the kids wanting help with exams, that i am happy to help with.
Why on earth not? Seems a bit picky. I have school email set up on my laptop.
And the school should certainly not expect you to be replying to emails during maternity leave. You risk breaking the rules for SMP.0 -

Why not? If you have been provided with one to help with lessons I can see no reason why the person who is doing your job while you're on ML shouldn't have one too - if they don't have one then surely the children will be missing out?
To be honest you're coming across as rather "me!me!me!" in this thread, perhaps you should step back a bit and consider it more objectively.0 -
Schools have laptops/tablets that are for the sole us of supply and temporary staff, so arguing that cover needs it is a null point.
If school took IT equipment from someone on maternity or adoption leave they are obliged to give that person the equipmenr back every KIT day and it has to be in the same condition the employee left it in.0 -

And no they would not have to have it in the same condition as they left it as natural wear and tear would be acceptable.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Where I work, people have to land laptops back to the company if they go on maternity as it is given to them to do their job. They will get it back if they come back to work. What would you expect if you don't go back to work after maternity? Surely they can't chase people to get the equipment back eitherally.0

Depends what you're doing on the KIT day - you wouldn't necessarily be teaching.0 -

.
All schools have spare IT equipment lying around for use by staff that they don't necessarily know they will need? When was that survey done?
And to answer the question the OP posed - yes, some companies expect employees to hand back company cars when they are on long term sick or maternity. That is down to the terms that the employer puts in place, just as this is - an answer you have been given several times now. None of us can give you permission to keep the tablet whilst on maternity leave, so there is little point in continuing to argue your case with us! perhaps your employer should be the object of your argument? However, I do wonder that this is such a big deal - will it actually kill you to go without a tablet? It isn't a choice between having the school tablet or having to buy one yourself - you could just not have a tablet at all. They aren't necessary for life.0
