    I love mine!

Can do anything you can do in a normal oven as long as you can fit it in the space (and have room for air to circulate).

It has been a life saver recently. Juts moved house and the oven here does not work. Well it works but the upper oven does not switch off. Don't know if it even switches of at a certain temperature which can be bad as I once had an oved that cooked itsse4lf as the thermostat broke!

Anyway so to avoid using I I have been using the halogen oven. Even cooked chicken crown and sunday meal in it!

And yes reheating food is fine (though I tend to use the microwave for that!).

I used ours when we were having an extension done, we were living in a mobile home and I think they are fab. Must look into using it again if I can find it lol.

Over the past 6/8 years we have had 3 {two cheap ones that packed up} and would not be without one. Both the time and money that is saved as not having to preheat a whole oven to cook 3 shop bought pies or pasties soon pays for one and with extension ring will cook a full roast dinner.
I must admit in the beginning I was not sure about them but after getting our first one we have never looked back. One other thing as well with them is not back breaking work cleaning and that in my book is worth its weight in gold.

    I've been Money Tipped!
We bought one in December 2013 when we moved into this house and the oven didn't work. We have since had a working cooker fitted, but we still use the halogen oven more than the cooker oven.

Wouldn't be without it and certainly falls into the 'if it broke I would replace it' category.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

  • thanks all for the replies. My ancient microwave is on it's last legs and I'm looking to replace it with something that is a bit more versatile. I need to re-heat a 'plated' meal from time to time if OH is held up at work and also think it would be good for roasties at Christmas when the 'real 'oven is full.

So can anyone recommend a make? There is a big difference from the cheapest to the most expensive. Maybe it is a case of getting what you pay for.

Thanks. Can you explain about the extension ring please?
I'm doing up a cottage with no cooker for the foreseeable future and am desperate for a nice bit of oven cooking :(

Yes sure, think of the oven as a big pyrex type cooking pot with a removable lid. The lid holds the halogen heating/cooking bulb.
It's worth shopping around. I had a special deal from Andrew James where an extension ring and other accessories were included in the price.
It's approx 4 inch deep metal ring that fits on top of the pyrex pot, increasing the available cooking space for larger items of food, like joints. I haven't needed to use it actually because the pot capacity is sufficient for me.
One of the caravanners cooked a large baked ham in hers and praised the result, she also successfully baked a cake.
I will be more adventurous with mine come Christmas when the starving hordes descend!
I can't post links but have a look on Andrew James' website for the 12 lt digital cooker, there's also a page that shows the accessory pack.
  • Bought one 5+ years ago and have not used my oven since........even done a dinner party.
