Nationwide Creditcard

Options
My brother has applied online for a nationwide credit card and at the end of the application process it said he would find out in 5-7 days rather than an instant decision is this normal or would this mean he is unlikely to receive one .
Any one else had a same message when doing an online application with Nationwide . All advice welcome
regards

Might well be as the Nationwide credit card isn't actually run by Nationwide but another banking institution. I found this out when I went to pay my credit card by cash in a Nationwide branch as I thought cash would be faster payment than cheque. They had to accept it in as cash, and make out a cheque to the credit card company! They did credit cheque same day though.

This sometimes happens with online checks as they may not be able to identify who you are ,where you live, mix you up with another person called Smith, finger error on inputting the information. Then there is always a financial double check if there is anything on your credit rating they are not authorised to clear without first checking with a manager first.
Just relax and wait it will be alright.
To put your mind at rest a little have a look at Martin's credit rating articles and see if you have missed anything.

When we applied for the NW card we got an instant decision. Sounds like they want a closer look at the application.

Then why does the credit card agreement state?...
This is an agreement between Nationwide Building Society, Credit Card Services, PO Box 5291, Southend on Sea, Essex SS99 6BX and you
...unless you mean Nationwide outsource the 'administration' (and not the underwriting) only?

I do seem to recall though, that the Nationwide credit card team share office accomodation with RBS in Southend.

When I recently applied online for one I was given an instant decision and also told what my credit limit would be, but then I also hold a current account with them too which may make a difference.

    Two things

The nationwide credit is run by nationwide only.
Thier processing centre is in southend, the same group of buildings that a lot of credit card companies use for thier credit card processing.

    How Do i know this?

I did some contract work for nationwide:)
    For everthing else there's mastercard.

I have just applied and it said they would be in touch in 5 working days so OP let me know how your brother gets on with his application.
