Private plate confusion - Private sale

My old car has a private plate on and i have just bought a car on a private sale (only ever done showroom). Looked on the dvla website and baffled :huh:

How do i apply for a reg number for my old car and transfer my plate to the new car...

I now have to go the the confusing Tax, insurance and wether to sell mine private or get ripped off by 'we buy any car' - other sites are available :rotfl: i need it gone asap

Any advice gratefully recieved

You get your current plate put on retention, then you can get it transfered to your latest car, costs around £80.

Or if the car will arrive before the car is sold, then it should be easy enough.

The form you will require is V317.
