insuring a cat d vehicle

My vehicle is soon to be classified as a cat d write off. (Pretty sure I'm going to keep car) Will my premiums be considerably higher even if I shop round and take into consideration that there will be less insurers willing to insure my car. Advice please. Preferably from others in exact same position or who have been previously.

Very few insurers will refuse to insure a cat D vehicle. Most don't even ask if it's ever been written off.
