I've received a letter from the council about school transport for my daughter but I don't understand what they mean.
Please be aware that the current contract is being retendered with the new contract commencing on 2nd November. The outcome of the tender exercise will of course be notified to you in due course.

It means the council are looking for a travel operator to take on a new contract, the interested parties will out in a price and probably the cheapest company will be chosen.0

Every year it's been a different company but before the kids broke up for the summer holidays we was told we would have the same company.0

And it will be, until Nov 2nd, when it could be the same or it could be another.0 -

Unless of course one of the more expensive quotes comes from an operator whose owner has family ties with someone on the council tender committee.0 -

They have changes their minds, and put it out to contract again. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

A bit harsh but yes, people should at least Google/Bing these things before posting.
Having said that, a Google search for "retender definition" is full of financial jargon, I wouldn't expect the average person to understand it.
It also doesn't apply here. They tendered the offer (made an offer available.)
They rejected the offer.
So they retendered it, essentially going back to the offer and repeating it with the remaining companies.0 -
