I think my SSP has run out

Been with my employer 1 month shy of 3 years.
I have a lot of time off sick, MS, low immune system catch all sorts.
Looking at my online wage slip i see that for August i have not been paid SSP, looking back for June I didn't get SSP. I am not off long term.
My employers have not informed me my SSP was about to run out or give me a date of running out or even a SSP1 form.
So am i right, I can not claim ESA or even ask for them to backdate to cover any period from June on wards that i was sick?
It could just be that payroll have screwed up again, they did earlier in the year i queried the amount of ssp and how much i had left, they admitted they calculated wrong and i would get the rest the following month, but they didn't answer my question about how much ssp was left.
But if I have ran out of SSP i am sure they needed to have told me in writing at week 23, even if they could only have said you have x amount of days left.
Every time i have gone off sick, i have called in, and every time i needed a sick note i have provided them with one.
Need some advice please.

To be honest no one is going to be able to answer your question other than payroll.
SSP can be paid for a total of 28 weeks but there are linking periods if you have been off sick before

If you are no longer entitled to SSP then you need to apply for ESA. Your employer will need to complete the form that you mentioned - SSP1.0 -
ESA can be backdated for 3 months.

I'm going to have to wait until Monday when anyone is in the office.0 -

Thanks for this, I think i may have lost June, but will only know when i get some answers Monday I think cut off for payroll is 12th of each month,
I have all but one sick note as the August one I handed in, currently off sick and just scanned that one to them.0 -
ESA can be back dated up to 3 months. If your employer confirms on Monday that your SSP has ended you have the potential to back date your ESA claim to 24th of May so there is no reason to 'lose June'.0
