Pharmacists have always had a chip on their shoulder because of the "not quite bright enough for medical school" perception of them, which has persisted over the years.

What a totally ridiculous comment to make.

What you mean, I presume, is "I don't agree with that"..

Dismissing other people's posts as ridiculous is just stamping your feet. It is not engaging in debate, nor helping the OP.

Hard to debate when you're rolling on the floor laughing.;)

It is a ridiculous thing to say. I've certainly never thought of pharmacists as med school rejects, they're a damn sight cleverer than me!

It's like saying all CSOs have a chip on their shoulder because they're not "proper coppers".

No, I meant precisely what I wrote - your comment is ridiculous.

There is no need to debate it. You didn't say that it was your opinion, you wrote it as a statement of fact, and one which is patently untrue.

Well, she's collected a lot of "thanks" for her admonishment, which probably makes her feel good.

This board really doesn't get any better, whenever I come on here.

Someone's just been leapt on on another thread and called a liar, when they've made only 2 posts, FGS.

Is it the heat, or are people on this board just aggressive and cliquey. Whatever the case, I think they must be sad people, deep down, if they choose to spend their time behaving in this way on an internet forum.

I don't doubt the last bit, but you are simply disagreeing, too, which you have every right to do of course.

I take it you understand the word "perception". Perception doesn't mean statement of truth. It means the way someone is perceived.

Or is it the case that just because YOU PERSONALLY have never thought that way, that what I said MUST be untrue.

I think this is a difficult one - on one hand I understand that you don't want to discuss things, but on the other there is a reason why to get prescribed medication you need to get it dispensed by someone with 4/5 years university studying + professional registration etc. If the regulatory bodies were happy to just trust that doctors never make mistakes, we could save a lot of money on pharmacists. They have a duty of care when they hand over medication. Switching things to being delivered wouldn't stop them picking up the phone and just running through questions with you. None of us know what medication you or your husband are on, it may be you are on things that can have particular subtle side effects or are more prone to interactions. It does sound like your pharmacy don't have the best 'bedside manner' but you could always go to a different pharmacy.

Basically the OP resents being interrogated by the pharmacy staff who are there just to dole out medication prescribed by the GP or nurse

The doctors and nurses are very efficient and competent, and there is (in my opinion) no need for this intrusive pharmacy check.

Many years ago when I worked in a GP surgery quite often prescriptions were sent back from the chemist next door as they were wrong so I think it's great there is a double-check to try and prevent harm to patients.

Perhaps you should remember why people use IMO/IMHO/IME on forums when debating, rather than just stating something as a fact. If you're stating something as a fact, it's usual (in a debate) to back it up with a reference.
