EMA problems - help please

Reapplied for EMA for this year for our DD, submitted the forms and have just received a letter turning us down saying our income is too much, yet the figures they quote in the letter are wrong, they can't even add up. They say you can appeal but have to do so within 1 month of the date of the letter - it took 15 days to be delivered.
Called the helpline and although they admitted that they hadn't fully taken into account my personal pension contribution, but they had for my wife, they wouldn't admit they had miskeyed the amount as pounds and pence. Spoke with a team leader, who agreed that all the fields on the form are pounds only but that they had taken my amount as pounds and pence. She refused to correct it saying they had made their decision and you now have to go throught the appeals process and send them proof of the correct amount for them to correct their keying error mistake.
Nowhere is their mention of the Appeals process in the documentation they send out or on the website. I believe she was just being an akward little sh** and refusing to correct their mistake which she could clearly see and she admitted she had a copy of the application form on the screen in front of her.
Anyone else had problems with EMA and know anything about the EMA appeals process? Have written a letter of complaint but guess this is going to take weeks to sort!! Term starts in less than 3 weeks.
