How to transfer vinyl LP to my PC?
Comments
-
I use a cable from the headphone socket on my stereo amp to the input on the soundcard of my PC (same 'fitting' at both ends, you can buy them in Maplins, Dixons, Currys etc) - leaving the turntable attached to the stereo system as normal. And I use a prog called Audiograbber - which is free, you'll find it if you google it. Works fine, although I find I have to turn the volume on the stereo right down otherwise it records at a deafening volume!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Thanks for these suggestions - I'm off to try them out now - I'll have to hunt through the various cables in the house but will give it a go tonight if I find one!0

Hope that's enough info ( and that it's understandable!

I'm a bit confused about the 'Line Out' outputs on your amplifier. I've not seen such a thing. That is why I assumed that you had used the Headphone socket.

If you aren't an Audiophile, you could consider the Bush MTT1 or MTT2 as they have built in pre-amplifiers. Richer Sounds used to sell the MTT2 for around £50. You can get the MTT1 for £30 or less; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silver-Bush-MTT1-Mini-Turntable-with-built-in-Amp-New_W0QQitemZ120153146466QQihZ002QQcategoryZ3283QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem0 -
Here's another for currently £17 from a private seller; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bush-MTT1-Black-HiFi-Turntable-Boxed-As-New_W0QQitemZ220139831392QQihZ012QQcategoryZ3283QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Keep your eyes open for an MTT2 ON EBAY; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BUSH-TURNTABLE-MTT2-BUILT-IN-PRE-AMPLIFIER_W0QQitemZ190132998165QQihZ009QQcategoryZ3283QQcmdZViewItem0 -
The Bush MTT1 is still at Richer Sounds, but at £50; http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct/BUSH-MTT1-SIL
Though, you'll have the option of a free 12 month or 60 month guarantee for £10 extra.
They also sell the aforementioned USB turntable for £100.0 -
I wouldn't recommend using headphone outputs. These are amplified signals designed to drive headphones and when compared to the quality from a line out the quality is much worse in my experience. Of course if you don't have a line out you don't have too much choice.0

Personally, I'd go for the Pre-amp if there is an existing turntable or one of the Bush turntables, preferably the MTT2 if budget is a concern and there is no turntable at hand.
Off course, if money is tight, the MTT1 is better than nothing. My mum is using one quite happily.
Some reviews of the MTT1; http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Bush_MTT1__5154163
I just can't recall seeing an amplifier with a Phono Pre-amp and a line out. They will generally have outputs for speakers and maybe a headphone socket.0 -
I think the "line out" from the amp must be meant for a cassette deck - that's what I use on mine - it should be ok.0

The turntable is connected into the MD/Phono sockets on the amplifier - is that what you mean? ( sorry to be so daft! )
This does not sound like a turntable input. MD normally refers to mini-disc and turntables produce a very low level signal. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
