Council tax arrears were to be automatically took off ESA. Now I have a summary warra

  • Yeah I'm definitely not ignoring it completely. Sounds a but too good to be true for it just to be sent out automatically because I'm assuming the sheriff had to sign off on sending me it and the council could or should have informed them they were waiting on arranging things with DWP.

    It make no difference what they tell the court - for council tax arrears nothing can be done regarding an attachment of benefit until the order is granted, once that happens the choice of enforcement can be taken.
    I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
