Question over notice/redundancy payments

Hi there.

I have worked for me current employer for over 8 years and it's been advised I am possibly going to be made redundant (subject to consultation etc).

I have a family and young child so am trying to work out what type of payout I could end up with.

My understating is currently:-

- there is a 2 week consultation period as there are only 2 people getting made redundant. Am incorrect in assuming I would be paid these 2 weeks.

- I would get a minimum 8 weeks notice on full pay as I have worked for over 8 years?
- Plus at the end of my notice period when I was actually made redundant I would get a further 8 weeks pay (am over 22 and subject to weekly maximum wage limits)

I have tried reading up on it and on the face of it seems like I could probably get by financially for the next 18 weeks if needed. However this is all new to me and wondered if anyone could advise if that was the case as it seems quite generous on the outset.
