Income Support- Prescriptions & Dental Care

I will likely be getting around £20 Income Support going up to £57 Income Support when my £37 tax credits ends.
Am I entitled to free prescriptions/dental care on the £20 income support plus my £37 tax credits and how would I prove I am entitled?
Thanks

You are entitled to free prescriptions. I knew someone who used to get 10p in income support so that she could get the prescriptions and free school meals she would otherwise have not been able to afford.
Not sure if they would do that these days, it was a few years ago but it is the income support factor that entitles you to free prescriptions.0 -
Thanks! That's a relief, I'm due some more medication for a physical problem. Hopefully entitled to Dental care too as I have an appointment due shortly too0

You have to sign on the back of the prescription to say that you are entitled to free prescriptions. You may be asked to produce your letter of entitlement but when I got free prescriptions for my children I was never asked to provide evidence.
If you regularly get prescriptions, try to always use the same pharmacy and they will get to know you anyway. I think it is whoever administers prescriptions that would check someone is entitled to them free if there was any doubt.

If you are on Income Support (no matter how little) you qualify for a raft of benefits. You prove you are entitled by producing your letter from the DWP confirming your entitlement.
If you get IS you are entitled to:

2. Free Dental Care
3. Free Eyesight tests
4. Vouchers for spectacles/contact lenses
5. Council Tax Benefit
6. Housing Benefit
7. Travel costs to hospital

You may also get (for children):
1. Free milk tokens
2. Free Vitamins (also for pregnant women)
3. Free school meals
4. Clothing Grants

Thanks for that list. Best make the most of it whilst I am receiving IS
