2 Patio Doors or 1 huge Patio Door

Hi

I realise this is dependant on the property and personal taste but would like opinions please.

We are due to have a rear extension which afterwards will be approximately 8 meters wide. 3m of this will be for another room, and the 5m of this is for the living room which will look out to the garden which is around 40ft (not landscaped).

This living room outside wall is not planned to have any furniture up against.

If this was your living room, would you prefer to have 2 X 2m patio or sliding doors or have 1 large 4m patio or sliding doors instead?

With the 2 X 2m, I mean 1 door then a pillar/wall of approx.1 meters then the 2nd 2m door.

I personally would imagine having the 1 large sliding door is the more modern look?

Thanks

I love Bi Fold doors, You can have just 1 door open if you want, or all of them. plus they fold away nicely :)

How will you feel when it's finished looking at the pillar in the summer knowing you could have opened the full wall?

That was a 5mtr opening in the house I did

I'm not a fan of bi fold, too many uprights spoiling the view and leaks and cleaning and costly

That is what I was thinking as well, having 1 X 5 metre. But am still not sure about bi fold or patio, as mentioned the bi fold will inevitably have many "lines" due to their design

Bi folds look great, but having got a set of 3m doors last year they have already been problematic. If I was doing again I'd consider ordinary patio doors simply because they are less likely to cause problems.

I'm not a huge fan of bifolds - I've done a couple of jobs recently using large sliders, one which had 3 big doors (one fixed, two slid into the end) and the other was split into 4 panels, 2 sliding in the middle and the two end pieces as fixed... using the schueco system

I did the same, with two sets of patio doors, creating a central opening. Bi Folds are ok, but I did not want them opening into the room, and they could not open outwards....also they look so '2014'....lol
